First stage of our process is to come to your home and carry out what we call, a carpet audit. What this means is, that we come and measure the exact area of cleanable square footage of carpet. We examine any seams in the carpet and check the fitting at the edges. (Ocassionally, seams or grippers may need re-fitting before cleaning can take place). We then identify the carpet type, construction, and fibre content. This is necessary so that we use the correct cleaning agent for the fibre type. We further check for stains and unwanted marks as these need to be treated with stain specific removers. We also check the Traffic Lanes for wear as well as shading. Once this is done, we can give you a written quotation.

When it comes to the time to clean, we go through a thorough and orderly process.

We thoroughly pre-vacuum everywhere and everything to be cleaned with our extremely efficient Hepa Filtration Vacuums. We vacuum skirting edges, behind furniture, even under beds!

Next stage is to pre-treat the stains and apply an emulsifying pre-spray to the main traffic areas. This is to start working at breaking down the grease,tar,nicotine, enzymes and all the other nasties that lurk in your carpet.

Once this is done, we start with the Hot Water Extraction process via our Truck Mounted Machine. Normally we like to start at the furthermost point in the property and work our way out. So if we are cleaning your whole house, we would start at the top and work our way down.

As each room is finished, we put the furniture on foil or styrofoam protectors and groom the pile to leave the carpet in it's natural lay.

As a final stage, we apply Stain Protector. (This is optional. However, my recommendation is, if a carpet is worth cleaning, it's worth protecting) And if necessary we speed dry the carpets with Air Movers. Generally this is not necessary as our Truck Mounted Machine is so powerful, that most carpets are "touch-dry" as we work.

A WORD ABOUT DRYING TIMES.

Drying times vary from carpet to carpet, and depend on a number of factors. Amount of soiling, relative humidity on the day, carpet fibre contruction. There are no hard and fast rules. Most carpets are "touch-dry" when finished, many are barely damp, none but a few are left feeling wet. It is not that some are wetter than others, it is just the way the fibre holds the moisture that affects the way it feels. The machine recovers approximately 85% of the moisture put out. Therefore many carpets are dry in under an hour. However, we don't advise removing protector foils or blocks from under the furniture for at least eight hours. This is because even the tiniest trace of residual moisture can draw wood stain from furniture or leave a rust mark from metal feet. Wherever possible we recommend they be left in place overnight.
